JB Revision · last updated 4 October 2026

This page explains what JB Revision keeps about you, why, for how long, and what you can do about it. In short: your account, your progress and your plan are kept so the site works for you on every device; nothing is sold, there are no adverts, and the only optional thing (usage statistics) happens only if you say yes.

Who runs it

JB Revision (jbrevision.co.uk) and its subject sites (ChemQ, BioQ, PhysQ, MathsQ, GeoQ, CSQ and SpanishQ) are run by Josh B, a student, for personal revision. Josh B decides what is kept and why, so Josh B is responsible for your information under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

What's kept

WhatWhat's in itWhere it comes from
Your accountYour username, your role (standard or admin) and when the account was made. Your password is never stored: only a salted, scrambled version of it (a PBKDF2-SHA256 hash) that can check a password but can't be turned back into one. You, when you create the account
Your email addressThe address you give when you create an account (or add later from the menu under your name), and whether you've checked it's yours. It's only used to email you a 6-digit code: to check the address, and if you forget your password. No newsletters, no marketing. While a code is waiting to be typed in, a scrambled version of it (never the code itself) is kept for 15 minutes. You
Sign-in sessionsWhen you sign in: the time, when the session ends (6 hours later), your IP address, the country it's in (worked out by Cloudflare) and your browser's description of itself (for example "Safari on iPhone").Your browser, when you sign in
Your progressThe questions you mark yourself on (your mark, out of how many, the date, the topics, and your last 8 attempts), and the mock papers you hand in (date, marks, percentage, the grade worked out, time used). You, when you mark questions and hand in mocks
Your planThe tests, exams and deadlines you add to the planner, any topic list you paste or upload (just its lines of text), your question sets and your session settings. You, in the planner
Your cookie choiceWhether you accepted usage statistics or chose essential cookies only, and when. Kept in a cookie on your device and, if you're signed in, with your account, so there's a record of what you agreed to.You, in the cookie popup
Usage statistics (only if you accept)Which parts of the site are used (for example "Chemistry · a question" or "Revision planner"), what kind of device (phone, tablet or computer) and the date, under a random visitor number. It isn't linked to your username or account, and no questions, marks or typing are included.Your browser, only after you press Accept all
Emails you send usIf you email [email protected]: your address and name, the subject and text of your email, what the automatic assistant made of it (a one-line summary), and any reply it sent. One-time links in replies aren't kept. You, when you email
Security countersTo stop people guessing passwords or making accounts in bulk: a count of wrong passwords and wrong codes from an IP address (kept for 15 minutes), and of accounts made and codes emailed (kept for an hour).Your browser's requests

Topic sheets you upload as a PDF are read inside your browser: the file itself never leaves your device; only the lines of text you keep are saved with your plan. Choosing questions that match your list also happens entirely in your browser.

Josh B (as the site's admin) can see the list of accounts (with their email addresses) and current sign-in sessions (usernames, sign-in times, IP addresses, countries and devices) to keep the site secure, and the usage statistics in total. Your progress and plan are only used to show them back to you.

Cookies and storage on your device

A cookie is a small piece of text a website saves in your browser. JB Revision uses three cookies, and also saves a few things in your browser's own storage so the site works quickly and offline.

NameTypeWhat it's forHow long
jbr_sessionEssential cookieKeeps you signed in. Without it the site can't work, so it doesn't need your permission.6 hours
jbr_consentEssential cookieRemembers your answer to the cookie popup, so it doesn't ask every time.12 months
jbr_vidUsage statistics cookie, only if you acceptA random visitor number, so a visitor who comes back on another day isn't counted twice. It's deleted if you change your mind.12 months
jbr-progress-v1Browser storageA copy of your progress and plan, so pages load straight away; it's synced with your account.Until you clear it
jbr-mock-…, jbr-review-…Browser storageA mock paper you're in the middle of, and the questions you're reviewing in this visit.Until you finish (or close the tab)
hub-theme, colour choice, filtersBrowser storageLight or dark mode, each subject's colour and your question filters.Until you clear it

You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings (also at the bottom of the home page). Choosing Essential only stops usage statistics straight away and deletes the visitor number.

There are no advertising cookies, no tracking across other websites and no Google Analytics.

Other services the site uses

  • Cloudflare hosts the site and its data (Cloudflare Pages and Workers KV). Every visit passes through Cloudflare, which sees your IP address and browser details to deliver the page and protect the site. Cloudflare's own privacy policy applies to that.
  • Physics & Maths Tutor (pmt.physicsandmathstutor.com). Original papers and mark schemes are PDFs that your browser downloads directly from there, so they see your IP address and browser when you open one, under their own privacy policy.
  • cdnjs (run by Cloudflare) supplies pdf.js, the free reader that draws mark-scheme pages inside the site.
  • Cloudflare Workers AI reads emails sent to [email protected], to work out what you're asking and answer it from the site's help facts (or pass it to Josh B). It runs on Cloudflare's own servers, and only sees the email you sent.
  • Resend (resend.com) sends the emails with codes and the assistant's replies. It gets your email address and the email itself, under its own privacy policy. Resend is based in the United States, so your address may be handled there.

Nothing about you is sold or shared with anyone else, and apart from emails you send to contact@ (read by Cloudflare's AI, above), nothing is sent to any AI service.

Why it's kept (the legal reasons)

  • To give you the service you signed up for: your account (including your email address, which new accounts need so they can reset a forgotten password), sessions, progress and plan.
  • Legitimate interests: keeping the site secure (sessions, IP addresses, the security counters), keeping a record of your cookie choice, and answering emails you send (and keeping a record of them).
  • Your consent: usage statistics, which only happen if you press Accept all, and stop when you withdraw it.

How long it's kept

  • Your account, email address, progress, plan and cookie choice: until you delete your account (or change or remove the email address). Each question keeps only its last 8 attempts.
  • Codes emailed to you: 15 minutes, or until they're used. Links the assistant emails you: 1 hour, or until they're used.
  • Emails you send to contact@, with what the assistant did: 12 months, then deleted automatically.
  • Sign-in sessions, with their IP address, country and device: deleted automatically when they end, after 6 hours, or straight away when you log out.
  • Usage statistics: 90 days, then deleted automatically.
  • Security counters: 15 minutes (wrong passwords) or 1 hour (new accounts).

Your rights

You can ask to see what's kept about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to how it's used. You can do the most important things yourself:

  • Delete your account: the menu under your name on the home page → Delete account. Your account, email address, progress, plan and cookie record are deleted straight away.
  • Change your email address: the same menu → Change email.
  • Withdraw consent to usage statistics: Cookie settings → Essential only.
  • See your progress: it's all on My topics, Your progress and the planner.

For anything else, email [email protected] (see below). If you're unhappy with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

If you're under 13

The site is made for GCSE and IGCSE students. If you're under 13, please ask a parent or carer before you create an account.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too, and anything important will be pointed out on the site. Questions or requests about your information: email Josh B, who runs the site, at [email protected].
